June 5-7, 2023, Ohana One International Surgical Aid & Education had the privilege of being invited to AI Med Conference in San Diego as a guest nonprofit exhibitor. AIMed has hosted conferences in San Francisco, New York, London, Sydney, Singapore and Dubai. The conferences focus on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and medicine and bringing together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovators to discuss the latest advancements and applications of AI in the field of medicine. Ohana One, in partnership with Vuzix and TeleVU were able to host a booth where they provided live demonstrations of how mentors and mentees can virtually ‘scrub in’ anywhere in the world to advance surgical training and skills. Of particular interest to many booth visitors was how AI is being used by TeleVU to provide patient privacy through facial recognition and blurring in addition to their end to end encrypted communication system and HIPAA Compliant secure cloud solution.
Ohana booth hosts, Cristina Farrut, Sidra Bugsch, Jeanne Bray, Susan Popler and partner host, Farbod Abolhassani from TeleVU were able to attend keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and presentations on topics such as medical imaging, diagnostics, predictive analytics, personalized medicine, and more. It was a great opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technologies and their impact on healthcare and how it can build on the work that Ohana One is doing to increase surgical training access to low and middle resourced countries throughout the world.
