Ohana One is thrilled to welcome four exceptional new members to our growing team. Each brings a wealth of experience, passion, and unique talents that align with our mission of providing global surgical education and care. Read on to learn more about Cristina Farrut, Jenny Davidson, Grace Berglin, and Bevin Metzger, and how they are contributing to the life-saving work at Ohana One.

Cristina Farrut

Cristina Farrut, Ohana One’s new Outreach Manager, brings over 30 years of non-profit experience and a deep passion for global health. She was inspired to join Ohana One after previously working with Dr. Kulber and Marchelle at another organization, where she admired their dedication to underserved communities. For Cristina, the opportunity to be part of a team that provides crucial surgical education and care worldwide was too compelling to pass up.

In her role, Cristina manages the logistics and project coordination that are essential to Ohana One’s successful surgical outreach trips. Her typical day involves coordinating with surgical teams, securing medical supplies, and working with partner organizations to ensure smooth operations during our trips. She also handles the complex logistics behind international travel and event planning, ensuring everything from visas to airline tickets is in place.

One of the most rewarding parts of Cristina’s work is witnessing local surgeons perform complex surgeries on their own, a testament to the transformative training they receive. Cristina is particularly passionate about the mentorship program, which pairs experienced surgeons with local healthcare professionals, creating a sustainable model of education. As she looks to the future, Cristina hopes to expand Ohana One’s reach and build more partnerships to impact even more communities.

Jenny Davidson

With over 25 years of fundraising experience, Jenny Davidson joins Ohana One as the Fundraising Strategist, bringing with her a deep-rooted passion for global health. Having worked with Marchelle on several fundraising initiatives in the past, Jenny felt a natural alignment with Ohana One’s mission and was thrilled to join the team.

In her role, Jenny collaborates closely with the Board and the Ohana One team to identify and engage donors who are passionate about supporting global surgical education. Her days are filled with meaningful conversations, strategic operations, and finding new ways to inspire philanthropic investments. She finds her work incredibly rewarding, especially when connecting with donors who share a deep commitment to the cause.

Jenny is passionate about empowering the Board to excel in philanthropy, as she believes Ohana One is a trailblazer in global health. She hopes to enhance the organization’s reach and visibility while instilling a love for fundraising within the team. Jenny is also driven by a desire to shift the narrative around fundraising, highlighting the importance of individual donors who make up the majority of philanthropic giving in the U.S. Outside of work, Jenny is a commissioned artist, avid baker, and enjoys spending time with her wife and their adorable cavachon, Chloe.

Grace Berglin

Grace Berglin, Ohana One’s new Support Specialist, joined the organization in April after learning about the opportunity from a family friend. With a background in non-profit work, Grace felt a deep connection to Ohana One’s mission and was excited to support the organization in empowering medical professionals around the world.

As a Support Specialist, Grace ensures that Ohana One’s teams have the technology and resources they need to succeed. Her role involves troubleshooting technical issues, conducting training sessions, and checking in with teams to ensure everything is running smoothly. One of her most rewarding experiences so far has been working with the Pipeline Surgical team, where she’s had the opportunity to represent Ohana One at a gala celebrating their impactful work.

Grace is especially passionate about the Physicians for Peace burn rehabilitation project in Tanzania, where she has witnessed the power of technology to transform healthcare delivery. Through her work with Ohana One, Grace hopes to gain a deeper understanding of global healthcare challenges and contribute to advancing medical education worldwide. Outside of work, Grace enjoys teaching ceramics, baking sourdough, and spending time with her husband.

Bevin Metzger

Bevin Metzger, Ohana One’s Grant Partner Success, was inspired to join the organization after being introduced to Executive Director Marchelle and hearing about Ohana One’s groundbreaking work. Bevin’s role is integral to ensuring that the surgical training teams Ohana One supports have the necessary tools and resources to carry out their work effectively.

From onboarding new teams to managing technological solutions, Bevin’s day-to-day responsibilities are diverse and essential. A highlight of her time at Ohana One so far was helping a team in Sri Lanka quickly onboard and perform a successful laparoscopic liver resection using Ohana’s technology. Bevin is particularly passionate about the Vision to Learn project, which aims to identify and address ophthalmic issues in children, a cause close to her heart.

Looking ahead, Bevin hopes to enhance the support and education provided to Ohana One’s grantees, helping to amplify the organization’s impact on global surgical education. Outside of work, Bevin enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and dogs.

At Ohana One, we are honored to have Cristina, Jenny, Grace, and Bevin on our team. Their dedication and passion are helping us drive our mission forward, ensuring that life-saving surgical education reaches communities across the globe. Welcome to the Ohana!
