Recently, the Ohana One team spent an incredible few days working alongside Dr. Jeppe Lohfert Haslund-Vinding, a neurosurgeon from Copenhagen, and the remarkable surgical team at Queen Ingrid’s Hospital in Nuuk, Greenland. It was inspiring to witness how surgery is a true team effort, with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses all coming together to save lives. This collaboration is at the heart of what Ohana One does: connecting healthcare professionals across the world to improve surgical outcomes and advance patient care.
During our time in Greenland, the local teams had the opportunity to learn about Ohana One’s groundbreaking technology that allows surgeons to connect in real-time, offering support and expertise from anywhere in the world. This innovation is a game-changer, especially in environments like Greenland, where remote locations make access to specialized surgical care particularly challenging. The technology ensures that when every second counts in a surgery, expert guidance and assistance are just a call away.
Ohana One is currently onboarding new teams in Greenland, and co-founders Kylie Tanabe, MPH, and Dr. David Kulber, along with our board vice president Adrian Ashkenazy, had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Najannguaq, a local surgeon, to witness firsthand the extraordinary level of patient care and the vital operations taking place at Queen Ingrid’s Hospital. This hospital is responsible for providing life-saving medical care to all of Greenland, including its most remote areas, where patients are frequently transported for critical surgeries.
Seeing how the team in Nuuk utilizes Ohana One’s technology to connect with surgeons from around the globe was a profound experience. During our time there, we also had the chance to collaborate with Dr. Haslund-Vinding to perfect life-saving neurosurgery techniques, particularly in handling traumatic brain bleeds, a critical skill in emergency medicine. Watching a local surgeon test out Ohana One’s technology during grand rounds at the hospital was a powerful reminder of the impact this technology can have on saving lives.
