Michele Dee, MD

Immediate Past President

Since 2002 Dr. Michele Dee has been an attending Anesthesiologist at Cedars-Sinai. Throughout her tenure, Michele has cared for patients from infancy to adulthood as one of the handful of board certified Pediatric Anesthesiologists in her group.  Within Beverly Anesthesiology, the anesthesiology group at Cedars, she currently acts as the Scheduler for her group and shares duties managing the Cedars operating rooms and anesthesia daily staffing. She is faculty member of the Cedars Sinai Anesthesia Residency Program, teaching anesthesiology residents and student nurse anesthestists on a daily basis. She was an integral part of the Cedars COVID Airway team during the year of the pandemic, and coordinated donations of PPE to help healthcare workers in need of equipment. Additionally, Dr Dee is the Director of Anesthesiology at Cove Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center primarily focused on pediatric reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Dee completed five years of general surgery residency and a year-long Pediatric Trauma Surgery Fellowship before transitioning to Pediatric Anesthesia. Dr. Dee’s awareness of the global state of practice combined with her passion for teaching has led her to participate in a number of international surgical missions for pediatric surgery. During these mission trips, a large portion of her work has involved teaching the anesthesiology staff including Anesthesia Physicians, Anesthesia Physician Residents, and Nurse Anesthestists.

This work led Dr. Dee to co-found Ohana One International Surgical Aid, which focuses entirely on Surgical and Anesthesia Care and Education.  She believes that global health outreach is of vital importance, and has conviction that it is our collective role to share intellectual resources with countries short on staff to care for complex anesthesia and surgical patients.

When not working Dr. Dee enjoys surfing, skiing, outdoor activity and spending time with her four children, two of whom have traveled to Africa on surgical missions. She is an active member of her community, having served on the Board of the American Youth Soccer Organization and the Parent Board of every one of her children’s schools. She has been a soccer coach and referee, and is an active Patroness in the Peninsula Chapter of the National Charity League.
